Quick Post

Just a quick post for all you out there in the "blogsphere." I've been busy at work, doing all the things I do: Canon Law, Theology, Papers. I finally got all the results from first semester which was good. They did seemingly loose one application for the STB - so that could be problematic since my timing on that is a little tight, but it's really just a bonus thing, and if you're asking yourself what it is, or what it means, that just proves my point, that there is no point. Glad we got that settled!
I went to Arlon last weekend, but my camera is too full to pull down the pictures. It's a pretty little berg in the very southern tip of Belgium. Mom and I had a plan to go there when she was here - it's about a 2.5 hr train ride, and it was a lovely day. The Ardennes are the 'mountains' in southern Belgium, and they were lovely. You should see the pictures!!! The town is lovely, the church is REALLY well kept, and there's one church up at the top of a hill that affords a lovely view of the surrounding landscape. Lots of stairs up and down.
Next week we have about 20 hrs of extra classes in Canon Law, but we just got word that one whole day will be in Dutch - with no translation, so if our Dutch isn't up to speed, we don't have to come. I couldn't really even make out the titles, but I think its something about religious education in Flanders. I have a feeling my Dutch won't be up to the challenge. :-)
That's all for now, just wanted to check in.
Peace,
Amy

Winding Down of Semester Break

Mom and Dad are winding up their visit here - it has been great and we've gone around a bit and visited, etc.

Classes start tomorrow and this semester will have lots of Canon Law, some of it will be by visiting lecturers and they are generally good. I also have some interesting Theology classes, and of course my thesis that is coming along well.

My usual schedule will be
Monday: Latin and French
Tuesday: Law of Persons and History of Religious Life
Wednesday: French Reading and Mysticism in the Low Countries
Thursday: Sacraments and French

There will be 6 weeks when there are concentrated canon law classes, the weeks of Feb 23, Mar 2, Apr 20 & 27, May 11 & 18.

Spring break will be the first two weeks of April - around Easter. I'll be visiting the CSJs in Rome and seeing the sights there that week.

Today is Mom & Dad's last full day here - Mom and I went to visit an old monastery near Leuven. We went out by bus and walked around and even met some black sheep there.

Geneva

Just a quick post to let you know we arrived safely in Geneva and did a little walking around - here's a photo to prove it. We're here for a few days before heading back to Belgium. Dad went to England, where they have apparently had record snow.

Peace,
Amy

Mom and Dad's Visit

Mom and Dad arrived Wednesday morning and we've been doing some visiting around. The picture here is the market square in Tienen, the next town up the tracks. It has been VERY cold, but we've had some nice sunshine which is a welcome change.

Tomorrow, Mom and I head out to Geneva for a few days, we have Swiss roots. And Dad will go to England to visit an aviator friend. On Saturday, we went to Brussels. Dad met Hervé, an engineering friend there, he seems to have had a delightful time. We all had lunch together, then his daughter Beatrice took us on a walking tour of Brussels - very interesting and enjoyable - thought cold. She was a UN translator, and is now the English language reporter for finance in a local news journal. She was delightful and an interesting tour guide.

We did church on Sunday, including a baptism, and the departure of a long-time parish member. After church we went for lunch with a Chinese student who loves to cook. Yummy!!!

It is a nice break from classes. This whole next week is free - I actually also had most of last week free since I had already finished my exams. However, I still did some french, some writing and some work on next year's internships.

All the best - stay warm!!!

Peace,
Amy
